Helipads are vital components of the facilities at regional hospitals, where timely access to emergency health care is critical.
As part of the Millmerran Hospital redevelopment project, the original helipad was demolished to make way for new hospital facilities.
Aviation Projects was engaged to assist in the siting, design and construction of the new helipad according to operator requirements and the latest guidance from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.
The process involved:
- Attending an inception meeting with the project team to confirm project administration and program requirements
- Reviewing current design and reference documentation
- Attending a site visit to inspect the existing HLS and survey the obstacle environment
- Attending a meeting of the project team and relevant stakeholders to ascertain operational requirements
- Preparing a draft basis of design document to inform the schematic design
- Providing expertise and attending meetings as required to progress the design and construction task
- Finalising the basis of design as part of the final design documentation
- Attending a final site visit to validate the basis of design has been completed, including a final obstacle survey
- Updating published aeronautical data.
it's a true privilege to be involved in the planning, design, construction and commissioning of new, fit for purpose aviation facilities from start to finish, knowing the benefit they bring to the community they serve.
