Artificial Intelligence is rapidly changing the way professional services operate, offering new opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and access to information. In aviation consulting, however, the adoption of AI requires a particularly considered approach.
At Aviation Projects, we are introducing AI conservatively and responsibly, as a tool to support our people, without replacing professional judgement, technical expertise or the accountability that our clients rely on.
Our consultants work in an environment where safety, regulatory compliance and technical accuracy are fundamental. For this reason, AI is not used to make safety-critical decisions, determine regulatory compliance, provide final regulatory interpretations, make legal or contractual commitments, or replace expert aviation judgement.
Instead, approved AI tools may be used selectively to support low-risk activities such as document structuring and editing, internal research summarisation, meeting notes and action tracking, training material development, and communications.
The responsible adoption of AI is also an information-management issue. Protecting confidential and sensitive information remains a fundamental requirement of our approach. AI tools are used within controlled environments, subject to appropriate access, governance and information-management requirements, and confidential client information is not used in AI systems.
This conservative approach allows us to explore the benefits of emerging technology without compromising the trust our clients place in us.
Our approach to AI is supported by recognised good practice, including AS ISO/IEC 23894:2023 – Artificial intelligence – Guidance on risk management, alongside Australian Government guidance for responsible AI adoption.
More broadly, the way we adopt and manage emerging technologies sits within Aviation Projects’ established governance and management systems.
We will continue to assess emerging AI capabilities, review their risks and benefits, and introduce them where they can demonstrably support our people and our clients.
