With the rapid development of advanced air mobility (AAM), Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) is inviting feedback on Draft Advisory Circular 139-10 v1.0 – Guidelines for vertical flight aircraft facilities at aerodromes designed for aeroplanes.
As AAM and vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) aircraft become more prominent, there’s a growing need to ensure aerodromes originally built for fixed-wing aircraft can safely accommodate this new generation of vertical flight. The draft AC outlines guidance for integrating VTOL and helicopter operations, covering crucial areas such as downwash hazards, visual aids, arrival and departure procedures and facility design.
This is a significant opportunity for aerodrome operators, planners, designers and aircraft owners to shape how vertical flight is integrated safely and efficiently across Australia's aviation infrastructure.
CASA is particularly interested in whether the guidance is clear, practical and fit for purpose. Read the draft and share your feedback via CASA’s Consultation Hub before it closes - Your input will help shape the future of vertical flight operations at Australian aerodromes.
