Supporting Aviation Growth in Africa: Keith Tonkin to Deliver Training in Namibia

On November 17, aviation expert Keith Tonkin will be delivering specialist educational courses at Walvis Bay International Airport, Namibia, in support of the AviAssist Foundation.

Founded in 1995, AviAssist is the only independent, non-profit organisation dedicated to providing affordable access to world class safety promotion in Africa.

Keith will be delivering two courses designed to strengthen aviation knowledge and equipping professionals with essential skills in:

  • Obstacle Limitation Surfaces (OLS): Understanding and managing the critical surfaces that ensure aircraft can operate safely around airports
  • Airport Planning and Airspace Protection: Exploring best practices for long-term airport development while safeguarding airspace for current and future operations.

The AviAssist Foundation has long been dedicated to building aviation capacity across the African continent, and Keith’s involvement underscores the importance of knowledge-sharing and international engagement. With his extensive background in aviation safety, operations and planning, participants can expect practical insights that directly support safer and more efficient air transport in the region.

This initiative not only enhances aviation safety in Namibia but also contributes to the broader goal of advancing aviation standards across Africa.
